Exploring the unconscious through systems, signals and feedback.
CyberPsychoanalysis is a psychoanalytic practice informed by cybernetics: instead of seeing the mind as a container, it approaches the subject as a living system of loops, tensions and regulations.
What is CyberPsychoanalysis?
It is a way of listening and working that remains faithful to the foundations of psychoanalysis (unconscious processes, transfer, desire, repetition), while using ideas from cybernetics to read how a life is organized: feedback loops, patterns, blockages, self-regulation and breakdowns.
The aim is not to reduce the subject to a machine, but to clarify how certain configurations keep you stuck: the same conflicts, the same relationships, the same impasses. Together we observe these loops, introduce controlled “noise” into the system, and open up new pathways.
Who is this for?
For people who feel caught in repeating patterns (in love, work, family, online), who live in a constant flow of information and yet feel internally fragmented, blocked or exhausted.
You do not need to know anything about cybernetics or psychoanalysis. My work is to translate these concepts into a concrete, personal process, session by session, at your rhythm.
Foundations of the cyberpsychoanalytic approach
CyberPsychoanalysis starts from a classical psychoanalytic intuition: the subject is not master in their own house. But instead of picturing the unconscious as a hidden container, it treats psychic life as a dynamic system made of signals, loops, thresholds and regulatory processes.
1. The mind as a system, not a box
Rather than “depth psychology” versus “surface”, we think in terms of circulation: where do impulses go, what do they meet, what blocks them, how are tensions managed or displaced? Concepts like feedback, set-points and attractors help us understand why certain situations feel impossible to change.
2. Loops, repetition and symptoms
Symptoms, compulsions and repeating scenarios are understood as loops that once had a regulatory function for the subject. They are improvised solutions that became rigid. The work is not to “erase” them from the outside, but to understand how they emerged, what they protect, and how they can be transformed.
3. The analyst as a deliberate perturbation
In a cybernetic perspective, the analyst is not outside the system, but part of it. Through words, silences, interpretations and the very structure of the sessions, the analyst introduces controlled perturbations that allow new configurations of the subject to emerge.
On CyberPsychoanalysis.org, you will find a more detailed theoretical development of this approach: the links between Freud and first-order cybernetics, the use of feedback and error as clinical tools, and a re-reading of subjectivity as an emergent property of complex systems.
In practice, however, the work remains very simple: you talk, we listen, we observe the loops that appear in what you say and in our relationship, and we try to shift them. The concepts help us orient ourselves, but the centre of gravity is your experience.
How sessions work
A cyberpsychoanalytic process is built over time, through regular sessions. The work is not a set of techniques applied from the outside, but a shared exploration of what repeats, what resists and what is asking to change in your psychic life.
Format
Sessions take place online (secure video) or, when possible, in person. We define together a frequency that makes sense for you – most often once a week at the beginning.
A session usually lasts between 45 and 50 minutes. You are free to talk about whatever comes: thoughts, dreams, fantasies, conflicts, bodily sensations, situations at work or online. There is no “right” way to do it; we start from where you are.
What we work on
- Repetitive patterns in relationships and attachment
- Feelings of emptiness, fragmentation or inner “noise”
- Anxiety, inhibition, self-sabotage, avoidance
- Compulsive use of screens, social media, work or games
- Conflicts between different “parts” of yourself
- Difficulty making choices or stabilising a life project
Cybernetic dimension
Throughout the process, we pay attention to loops: how certain situations trigger automatic responses, how your inner “critical voices” operate, how you predict and pre-empt the reactions of others, how you regulate (or fail to regulate) your own states.
Bringing these micro-mechanisms into speech allows them to become less rigid. The goal is not to turn you into a perfect machine, but to give your system more flexibility, more options, and more ways of dealing with tension and desire.
Practical aspects
Fees, payment methods and time slots depend on your situation and will be discussed during the first contact. I do not offer emergency psychiatric care; in case of immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services or crisis hotline.
If you are curious but unsure whether this approach is for you, we can schedule an initial meeting to explore your questions and see how we might work together.
Contact & first appointment
If you would like to book a first session, ask a question or simply clarify whether this type of work could be suitable for you, you can contact me directly by email.
Please indicate your name, time zone, and a few words about what brings you here. There is no obligation to commit: the first contact is a space to see whether we can work together.
